Elderly Sponsorship
The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) said:
"He who is not merciful to our young and who shows no respect to our elderly is not one of us" (Tirmidhi)
We often focus our sponsorship on the younger generations i.e. babies, infants, toddlers, juniors and teens. This is the generation that has its whole life to live and the generation we are compelled to help.
We often don't consider the 'forgotten generation' - the elderly people of our communities. This generation should not be forgotten. Millions of elderly people in developing countries require help. They are in need of basic care to ensure their remaining lives are lived in dignity.
Many elderly people are suffering from poverty, are homeless, malnourished and have health issues. In terms of family, there may not be any around to help or the family may be suffering from poverty themselves - thus being in no position to help.
FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK will work with its partners to identify a select number of elderly people around the world who require sponsorship. Our sponsorship of will cover:
-
Food
-
Clean Water
-
Clothing
-
Shelter
-
Medical Care (including medicines)
-
Social Opportunities
The elderly people being sponsored will be monitored regularly to ensure their well being is maintained. An annual report on the progress of each elderly person sponsored will be posted on the website.
