Our Vision

Asalaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

First of all, may Allah (swt) bless everyone browsing this website.

My name is Kaleem Mohammed and I am the founder of FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK (previously known as FI'SABIL'ILLAH NOTTINGHAM).  I will aim to explain the inspiration and vision behind FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK and how a once distant dream turned into a beautiful reality.

Like many others, I have always had a keen interest in giving to charity.  One of the pillars of Islam is Zakat and this prescribes Muslims to give a minimum part of their wealth to those in need.  We have been blessed by Allah (swt) with many nice things in this Dunya and to give part of this blessing, as Zakat, to those less fortunate shows how beautiful a religion Islam is.

I have always wanted to, at some point in life, get involved personally in charitable projects and try to help those in need.  I wanted to be part of the project.  My early charitable giving was concentrated on well known charities and their appeals.  This seemed the easiest thing to do, at that stage, as getting involved in a project would have involved a sacrifice of time and my mind had always been focused on other things.

A MOTHER'S INSPIRATION

In late 2013, I had a conversation with my mother about my plan to perform Umrah.  My mother asked me if I had ever thought about funding a poor person to go perform Umrah or if I had ever thought about funding the building of homes for poor people around the world or if I had ever thought about funding the building of a Masjid.  In essance, had I thought about helping other people.

This conversation stopped me in my tracks and made me think.  The next few days were spent taking a real hard look at myself.  The same question kept entering my mind, over and over:

'If I was to die that very day, what legacy would I have actually left behind?'

The answer to the above question was very easy, I would have left no legacy behind.  This planted a seed in my mind, made me come to the conclusion that I needed to do something and FI'SABIL'ILLAH NOTTINGHAM was born.

FI'SABIL'ILLAH NOTTINGHAM

The aim, purpose and vision behind FI'SABIL'ILLAH NOTTINGHAM was a desire to give back to those people in the world that are less fortunate than us. It would give us an opportunity to make a difference in other parts of the world that we might not know even existed. It gives us the opportunity to share those blessings that we have been given by Allah (swt), living in the developed world, with our brothers and sisters living in less developed parts of the world.  It would also give us the opportunity to create a legacy for ourselves in this Dunya.

FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK

Alhamdulillah, to date, we have completed a few projects and further information on these projects can be found in the 'Our Projects' section of the website.  One point that I did notice was that the interest and donations in FI'SABIL'ILLAH NOTTINGHAM was coming from all over the UK.

Hence, a decision was taken to rename the charity to FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK - to broaden the appeal of the charity to those throughout the UK.

Thank you for reading the story behind FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK.  Please continue to browse the remainder of the website.

Please make Dua that this and other charities succeed. Whether you donate to this charity or not, please do donate to charity.  May Allah (swt) accept your donations, accept your duas and keep us all safe and on the right path.

Baraka-Allahu Feekum,

Kaleem Mohammed (Founder, FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK)
