Umrah Sponsorship
Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu anhu) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) said:
"An Umrah to another Umrah will be redemption of sins for whatever (minor) occurs between them." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
One of the most beautiful journeys one can make in this Dunya is the journey to the House of Allah (swt) in Makkah. A pilgrimage, whether it be Hajj or Umrah, is an opportunity for Muslims to cleanse themselves of their sins, re-engage themselves with their faith and ultimately become a better person.
It has become much easier for people in developed countries to make the trip to Umrah. The cost of Umrah is not high when you compare it to the living wage earned by individuals in developed countries.
The cost of Umrah for people living in the developing world is huge. These people are often struggling to make ends meet on a day-to-day basis. They struggle with the cost of food, shelter, clothing etc for their families. An Umrah trip is a distant dream.
FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK recognises the fact that there are pious Muslims around the world that would love to make an Umrah trip and we will aim to do as much as we can to make some of these dreams come true.
FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK will work with its partners to identify Muslims around the world that would like to make an Umrah trip but currently are in no position from a financial perspective to cover the cost. FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK will then cover the cost of the Umrah trip, which includes:
-
Airline Tickets
-
Visa Costs
-
Passports
-
Vaccinations
-
Transportation
-
Food
-
Accommodation
-
Transfers between Makkah and Madinah
-
Spending Money (including for Zam Zam Water)
A focus will be on Imams for this sponsorship on the basis that they teach the beautiful Deen to others and it would be an amazing trip for them to undertake as part of their own spiritual journey.
FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK has taken guidance from religious scholars, who confirm that Zakat funds can be given to poor people and these poor people can use the Zakat funds to fund an Umrah trip. However, FI'SABIL'ILLAH UK is unable to place a pre-condition, on the Zakat donation, that it must be used by the poor person for an Umrah trip.
